The project dwells on an imaginable future where farmers mining for rare earth elements on the moon encounter a familiar friend from the earth - The Rust. The rust collected by the moon from the debris of human advancement of weapons and space machinery finds consciousness when introduced to human farmers and establishes a symbiotic relationship with the skin by taking different forms, shapes, and textures. The embodiment of rust follows a special intelligence of evolution from a natural inorganic molecule to an organic sentient being. The depiction of the rust forms represents motifs following a general existential pattern derived from the biodiversity existing in the human consciousness. The rust coexists with humans for a few millennials and later forms its own planet in a nearby galaxy. For this project, I’ve taken rust, algae and lichens on Fabric to create this impossible yet beautiful future of Moon farmers.Less More
